- the upgrading of gasification rate,
- the upgrading of marine to accommodate larger ships,
- the upgrading of Ag. Triada Metering Station.
The Construction of the third LNG tank is in progress. Also, the contract for the Detailed Engineering, Procurement of Materials & Construction of the 2nd Upgrade Gas Sendout at Revithoussa Island has been signed in May 2015.
Benefits
The project is of great importance as it is expected to:
- increase the operational flexibility of the LNG Terminal Station
- improve the level of security of supply in case of interruption of the northern entry points
- allow the reception of LNG carriers with a capacity of up to 260,000 m3 while the current capacity is up to 140.000 m3 resulting in the activation of more LNG carriers.
Additionally, the project is necessary for the hydraulic stability of the Transmission System, since the other two entry points to the NNGTS are located at the northern border of the country and the consumption is concentrated in the southern part.
Upgrade of Boarding Metering Station (BMS) of Sidirokastro- Second Phase
The project includes:
- the remote control of BMS Sidirokastro from the control center in Patima (GCC) and the backup control center (BCC) in Nea Mesimvria, through SCADA system.
- replacement of the existing meters orifice with ultrasonic meters in order to be compatible with the requirements of measurement standards.
- upgrade of the supporting system (station utilities).
- permanent ability of reverse flow of NNGS enabling of exporting volumes from NNGS to Bulgaria.
It has already been implemented the Mechanical Completion of permanent ability of reverse flow of NNGS, in November 2013.
From 24 May 2014, the Sidirokastro Station can be used to transport gas from Greece to Bulgaria.
The project is under construction phase of the 2nd Upgrade of Metering Station.
High Pressure Pipeline from Mandra Attikis to the facility of EL.PE in Elefsina
The project scope includes
- the construction of a pipeline of 6.7 KM length and 10 inches diameter which will start from the line valve “Mandra” and following a route below the railway lines and the new national road of Athens – Corinth will end up in the facility of EL.PE. (Hellenic Petroleum).
- the Construction of the Metering Station to supply ELPE permises in Eleusina
Design, supply, installation and operation of equipment SCADA field
The project involves the design, procurement, installation and operation of equipment SCADA Field (RTU) at stations of NNGS. This equipment will replace the RTU equipment which operated by 2000.
Upgrade of electrical and electronic equipment, billing system and equipment SCADA field in stations M/R of 1st generation (1995-2000)
The project involves the design, existing equipment dismantling, procurement, installation and commissioning of electrical and electronic equipment for 16 stations of NNGS of which the existing equipment for metering and managing invoicing and signaling has overpassed a 10 year operation period.
Extensions and upgrades of metering stations of North and East Thessaloniki
The project includes the design, procurement and installation of the third metering control line on the existing stab outs as well as all the electrical and electronic component equipment.
Upgrade the system of fixed communication of NNGS
The upgraded system of fixed communications of NNGS will be able to meet future needs- namely, for the purposes of internal computer network and closed circuit television channels in natural gas it is required the connection with agencies O&Ms 100 – 1000 Mbps.
Installation of M/R Farsala
The project refers to the installation of a M/R 70/19 Station in the area of Farsala line valve. The aim of the project is to supply with natural gas the urban area.
C. PROJECTS UNDER DESIGN / TENDER PROCEDURE
Installation of M/R Kavala
The project refers to the installation of a M/R 70/19 Station in the area of Kavala line valve. The aim of the project is to supply with natural gas the city of Kavala and the nearby cities of Palaio and Eleftheroupoli.
D. PROJECTS UNDER COMPLETION
Aliveri, expansion of the Natural Gas Transmission System
The project involves the expansion of the high pressure transmission network to Aliveri and includes an onshore section from the main pipeline to the shores of the Euboean Bay, followed by an offshore section to the region of Aliveri and a small onshore section in Evia to the PPC station in Aliveri. The diameter of the pipeline is 20″ and the length of the on shore part is about 57.9 km, while the off shore part is expected to be 14.2 km approximately.
The pipeline to Aliveri introduces the use of natural gas in central Evia in the urban, commercial and industrial sector, while feeding the new unit of PPC in the region.
This project is cofunded under the NSRF 2007-2013.
3rd Group of Metering and Regulating Stations
The scope of the project included
- the installation of 2 Metering Stations in Aliveri and Megalopoli in order to supply the Power Units of Public Power Coroporation (PPC)
- the installation of 3 permanent Metering and Regulating Stations at Agioi Theodoroi (Korinthia), Trikala and Karditsa. These Stations supply the distribution networks of Low and Medium Pressure of the respected regions.
Megalopoli, expansion of the Natural Gas Transmission System
The project concerns the expansion of the high pressure transmission network from the region of Agioi Theodoroi (Prefecture of Korinthos), via the isthmus, to the region of Megalopoli, Arcadia.
The construction of the pipeline is foreseen to be one of 30″, 15.5 km long pipeline and one of 24″, 143.5 km long.
The purpose of the construction of the project is to supply general industrial/urban areas along the routing (Corinthos, Argos, Nafplion, and around Tripoli, Megalopolis region) and the power generation units with natural gas that will be constructed in Megalopolis. The project was designed in a way to allow for future expansion of the pipeline in the region of the Peloponnese.
The Project was cofunded under the NSRF 2007-2013.
4th Group of Metering Stations
The project pertains to the installation of
- the Metering Station that will supply natural gas to the power plant “Thisvi Power Generation Plant SA”, (Thisvi, Viotia),
- the Metering Station to supply the power plant of “ENDESA HELLAS”, (Agios Nikolaos, Viotia)
- the Metering Station to supply the power plant of “KORINTHOS POWER” (Motor Oil)
E. BIG PROJECTS UNDER FUTURE DEVELOPMENT
Compression Station in Kipi and metering stations
The project aims at increasing the Transported Capacity of NNGS in order to be possible the transmission of natural gas volumes to the greek and European markets with the use of downstream transmission systems of natural gas, INGS, which are probable to be developed in the region (Trans Adriatic Pipeline-TAP, Interconnection Turkey Greece Italy-ITGI). The station can –if this is considered necessary- to be constructed gradually in order to supply at first the greek market and then it can be upgraded so as to serve volumes for transit outside Greece.
